Laprascopic Surgery

What is laprascopic (keyhole) surgery?

Laparoscopic surgery, also known as minimally invasive surgery (MIS), is a modern surgical technique in which operations are performed far from their location through small incisions.
Virtually every abdominal operation can and has been performed by this route. This includes obesity or bariatric surgery and operations on the pancreas, stomach, spleen and oesophagus.
The advantages of laparoscopic surgery are of less pain and quicker recovery time which for most operations leads to shorter hospital stays. After initial access is gained the abdomen is filled with carbon dioxide gas.
