About Simon Bann

Simon is a UK trained General and Upper gastrointestinal surgeon. He graduated from King’s College and the London Hospital Medical School and undertook his Basic Surgical Training on the Royal London and St Bartholemew’s training programme; obtaining FRCS in 1997. He took time out of his training programme to undertake research and write his thesis with Professor Lord Darzi as his supervisor; during this time he also worked in Hong Kong with Professor John Wong. He returned to the North West Thames Programme with further specialist UGI training taking place at the Royal Marsden, Chelsea and Westminster, Hammersmith Hospital and St. Mary’s where he was the advanced laparoscopic fellow and worked as a Consultant.

Simon has published extensively in a number of areas including assessment of surgery; surgical oncology; new technologies in surgery and advanced laparoscopic surgery. He works as a specialist surgeon both at Wellington and Wakefield Hospitals.

Simon is a general and bariatric surgeon who has extensive experience of cancers of the upper gastrointestinal tract and laparoscopic treatment of many complex conditions including gastrooesophageal reflux disease; giant hiatus hernias and pancreatic and splenic surgery. These complex surgeries are based on extensive practice of laparoscopic procedures including hernias and cholecystectomy.
